William Kenyon Freeman

William Kenyon Freeman, 96, of Pandora died at 2:35 a.m. Friday (March 5, 2010) at Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora.

He was born March 7, 1913 to Allen P. and Elizabeth Kenyon Freeman. He married Mary E. Collier on Nov. 23, 1941, and she passed away Sept. 12, 2005. Mr. Freeman was a farmer in Delaware County most of his life until the Alum Creek Watershed Project took the farm, at which time they relocated to a farm in Richwood in 1970. He was a member of the Pandora United Methodist Church where he was involved in the VOSH program, and was a former member of the National Farmers Organization. In retirement he enjoyed their stay in Winter Haven, Fla. in the winter months, as well as gardening, raising roses, apples and oranges. He was a graduate of Orange Township High School in Delaware County.

He is survived by sons, Paul (Janet) Freeman of Columbus Grove and Donald (Nancy) Freeman, Mt. Zion, Ill.; a daughter, Ruth Ellen (Lester) Pierce of Wayne; seven granchildren; two step grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank Merrill Freeman of Columbia, Md.; and sister-in-law, Wanda Freeman of Butler.

He was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Freeman; a brother, Bernard Freeman; and a sister, Annabelle Peterson.

A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 9 at Africa Cemetery, Lewis Center, with the Rev. Don Freeman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pandora United Methodist Church, Hilty Memorial Home or Gideon's International.

Chiles-Laman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
