Robert L. Bob Thomas

Robert L. Bob Thomas, 90, of Delaware died Saturday morning (March 6, 2010) at Wintersong Village.

He was born on Jan. 18, 1920 in Bellpoint to the late Kenneth Paul and Lillian (Leasure) Thomas. He was a 1938 graduate of Bellpoint High School, a WWII Army veteran and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where he sang in the funeral choir. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree Knight, and a retired service representative for Massey Ferguson. Bob enjoyed making people laugh whether at or with him. He also enjoyed playing golf with his friends at Hidden Valley Golf Course.

He is survived by a brother, John Thomas of Springfield; sisters, Joan Rife of Delaware, June Miner of Delaware and Judy Lamport of Fittstown, Okla.; a sister-in-law, Donna Starr of Newark; and nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors of Riverside Drive.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Mandy “Margaret” Chapin Thomas on Jan. 11, 2009; brothers, Kenneth Jr. and Richard; and sister, Jane Thomas.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday with prayer services at 7 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., Delaware. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. David Schalk celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery with military honors.
