Luella Ruth Williams Penhorwood

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

Luella Ruth Williams Penhorwood, 93, went to be with her Lord on Sunday (March 7, 2010).

She was the oldest daughter of four children of Hazel Fern Shaffer Williams and Gilbert James Williams. She was born Jan. 7, 1917. Ruth grew up and attended school in Radnor. Olen and Ruth lived on several farms in Delaware, Radnor and West Mansfield. Ruth sang in a trio at Fulton Creek Friends Church. She loved the Lord and had a very strong and unwavering faith, was kind and lived her life the best she knew how to show God’s love to others. She and her husband retired to Cape Coral, Fla., where they lived for 30 years. When they were unable to care for themselves they moved to Wichita, Kansas to be near their son, John. Ruth was a homemaker and a wonderful cook and enjoyed playing card games, and other forms of competition. Ruth enjoyed having company in her home and eating out.

She is survived by one son, John; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Olen B., whom she married on February 13, 1936; and three siblings, Glen Williams, Paul Williams and Gladys Williams Fleming.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 13, in the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Joe Kirby will officiate and burial will follow in Radnor Cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be made to Fulton Creek Friends Church, 10950 Fulton Creek Rd., Richwood, OH 43344.
